For the second day in a row, Fresh Encounter Inc. has made a sizeable donation to a Lima non-profit organization.

Fresh Encounter Inc., the owners of Chief Market, presented a check for $20,000 to the West Ohio Food Bank. The money is made up of a corporate donation and donations through the public. Chief has been holding a Holiday Food Bag Drive where customers can donate while checking out. Monday, Fresh Encounter Inc. made a donation to Family Promise, donating $2,000 worth of diapers.

A huge donation from a regional grocery chain will help provide food for hundreds of people in the area. Fresh Encounter Inc. in partnership with their customers of local Chief and Community Markets dropping off pallet after pallet of needed items to the West Ohio Food Bank. During the holidays the company encourages its customers and team members to donated benefiting people who need a “hand-up” to provide for their families. Friday's donation will provide 16,000 meals from the community for the community.

Fresh Encounter Inc. says they will be closing the Chief Supermarket on Harding Highway sometime in January. They say the store underperformed and didn't operate profitably.  They will be working with associates to ensure a smooth transition, and some will have opportunities at other Chief locations. There are 11 Chief locations in northwest Ohio, two of them are located in Lima. Fresh Encounters Inc. manages 50 retail locations in Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky.
