LIMA, OH (WLIO) - A Lima youth music program gives students hands-on studio and live show experience.
"Children are just so receptive to anything new, and they're naturally curious," Crust said. "They have so many questions about the instruments, and when we play music for them, their first instinct is to dance or move."
Music filled the air Tuesday evening in Shawnee Township! The Shawnee High School Marching Band was hard at work practicing for their 2024 festival show performance inspired by the Broadway play Wicked. The jazzy show will include renditions of famous songs including "No One Mourns the Wicked," "Defying Gravity," and "No Good Deed." In between drills and run-throughs, we talked with two students about not only the friendships associated with marching band but the educational components as well.
A local organization is striving to provide area residents of all ages with a music education by expanding their team of music teachers. The Lima Music Academy, a faith-based non-profit music school founded in 2022, is currently searching for people who can teach a variety of musical instruments like the guitar, saxophone, trumpet, drums, piano, and even vocal instruction.
