CRIDERSVILLE, Ohio (WLIO) — For the first time, students at Cridersville Elementary School experienced the magic of live symphonic music, leaving them mesmerized.

As part of an educational outreach program, Lima Symphony Orchestra Music Director Andrew Crust and guest clarinetist Greg Hamilton visited the school to speak with fourth-grade classes. Hamilton shared his passion for the clarinet, while Crust provided insight into the symphony and its role in the community.

Cridersville Elementary students mesmerized by live symphony performance

"Children are just so receptive to anything new, and they're naturally curious," Crust said. "They have so many questions about the instruments, and when we play music for them, their first instinct is to dance or move. They have no inhibition, and I think that's just so inspiring—to expose them to this great music so that in the future, they can share it with others."

Cridersville Elementary Principal Kyle Cutnaw emphasized the importance of exposing students to cultural experiences beyond the classroom.

"It's a great opportunity for our kids to see what's out there in the local community and give them access to opportunities that we may not necessarily have here in the district," Cutnaw said. "It allows them to see what it's like and exposes them to new opportunities and experiences."

The Lima Symphony Orchestra will perform this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Lima Veterans Civic Center. Tickets are available at the ticket office.
