January 6, 2025, press release from the Delphos Police Department: On 12-29-2024 officers spoke with a female in the 1200 block of N. Washington St, who reported that an item was missing from her residence. She believed that an acquaintance took the item during a previous visit. On 12-29-2024 officers responded to the 400 block of S. Cass St, after a female reported an unknow male in her residence. Officers arrived and did not locate anyone but the female in the residence. The residence was secure, and it did not appear anyone else had been there. On 12-30-2024 officers were sent to perform a well being check on a male in the 900 block of Lima Ave, after his home health nurse could not make contact with him. Officers located the male, who needed medical assistance, inside his residence.

January 6, 2025, press release from the Ohio Department of Public Safety, Ohio Investigative Unit: CLEVELAND, OHIO  The Ohio Investigative Unit (OIU) and Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office have announced the indictment of Hafedh Al-Gahim, 52, of Brooklyn, New York, and his company Buffalo Discount Corp. Al-Gahim and his company are accused of defrauding more than $125,000 in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits from Ohio recipients.

Gervens Justilien, the man accused of the March 2024 murder of an American Township woman, will have his trial postponed. Originally scheduled to begin on January 14, 2025, Judge Jeffrey Reed allowed a motion for continuance entertained by Justilien's defense. A new trial date has not been set. The postponement is to allow an independent DNA expert to complete their investigation of collected evidence and release their findings.

January 2, 2025, press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio: CLEVELAND - In the fiscal year 2024 (FY 2024), the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio collected $27,882,120.34 in civil and criminal actions. Of this amount, $12,537,202.34 was collected for civil damages, penalties, and interest owed to the United States, while $15,344,918 was collected for criminal restitution to victims of federal crime.

December 16, 2024, Press Release from the Ohio Department of Public Safety: COLUMBUS — Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced today that the Ohio Traffic Safety Office (OTSO) has awarded over $24 million for statewide programming to improve traffic safety and reduce traffic-related fatalities. A total of 189 grants were awarded with 159 grants going toward 145 different local agencies in 63 counties, and 30 grants going toward statewide initiatives. All grants support the efforts of safety partners statewide and focus on traffic safety priority areas, including impaired driving, seat belt usage, speeding, distracted driving, youthful driving, and motorcycle safety. The traffic safety grant funds were directed to OTSO from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

November 19, 2024, Press Release from the Office of the Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost: (DELAWARE, Ohio) — A home-improvement contractor with a history of defrauding customers has been sentenced to 7½ years in prison for the theft of more than $500,000, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost announced today. Marion resident Ryan C. Needels, owner of Clear View Construction, was indicted in August 2023 for accepting large down payments from 21 consumers across nine Ohio counties without completing the promised work. Prior to the indictment, the Attorney General's office sought resolution through a civil lawsuit in October 2022.

November 8, 2024, Press Release from the U.S. Department of Justice, Northern District of Ohio: TOLEDO, Ohio – A federal jury has convicted an Ohio man of possession and distribution of child sexual abuse materials (CSAM), also known as child pornography. Derran Reebel, 52, of Toledo, was found guilty of committing crimes that violate federal laws regarding the sexual exploitation and abuse of children. According to court documents, Reebel knowingly received and distributed CSAM for nearly eight years.
