England was given a sentence of eight to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of aggravated arson. Charges of attempted murder were dismissed. England was homeless and set a blanket on fire inside 122 N. Elizabeth St. that resulted in the building being a total loss and demolished. A few hours after starting the fire, England turned himself in to police. He admitted to starting the fire because he had an argument with two other homeless people and was trying to kill them.

Jeffrey England has entered a guilty plea to two counts of Aggravated Arson. As part of the plea deal, the two counts of Attempted Murder were dropped. England, who is homeless, admitted to police he started the June fire because he was trying to kill two men inside the building following an argument. They were able to get out. Because of the extent of the damage, the building had to be torn down. England will be sentenced on December 1st.

Jeffrey England was charged with two counts of aggravated arson and two counts of attempted murder. On June 23rd, England had an argument with two other men inside the vacant building at 122 Elizabeth Street. England admitted to police he tried to kill the two by setting a blanket on fire and leaving. The two men got out okay, but the building was ruled a total loss and demolished the next day. While the fire was burning, England walked into the police department to turn himself in.

Jeffrey England waived his preliminary hearing on an arson charge and his case will be bound over to Allen County Common Pleas Court. It will be heard by a grand jury to determine if there is probable cause to move forward. England walked into the Lima Police Department on June 23rd as firefighters were battling a blaze just down the street at the former Roxy bar. He told officers that he started that fire.
