Many vendors set up shop to sell a multitude of products such as fresh fruits, vegetables, jellies, jams, baked goods, popcorn, candles, and other homemade items. Also at the market, live music and food trucks made an appearance. With the participating vendors from the Lima region, a wide variety of benefits will be felt throughout the community.
The market will kick off on June 7th and every Tuesday through September 27th. It will be located in the front parking lot of the V.F.W. at Elm and South Main Streets. There will be a wide variety of products from fresh produce to homemade jellies and more. Organizers encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the market.
Many vendors suffered from cancelled events in 2020, but now they can get out again as the Downtown Lima Farmers Market gears up for another year. Last summer, the market was held in the empty lot behind Old City Prime to accommodate a drive-thru and social distancing. Now, they are back to their normal location in front of the Veterans Civic Center in downtown Lima. Market manager Jennifer Fickel says everyone is excited to return for the first day, and this year will bring a chance to incorporate activities again.
This week is National Farmers Market Week, and those tents and tables in town may be helping your community in more ways than one. The certified market manager of Downtown Lima Farmers’ Market says they are a vital part of Lima’s economy and health.
Dozens of people were downtown on Tuesday for some fresh food and entertainment. Fruit, homemade baked goods, meat, and vegetables were just some of the things offered at the Downtown Lima Farmers’ Market Tuesday afternoon. The Lima Public Library, the Noble Goose, and Curbside Escapes were just some of the vendors present. This year the farmers market is also offering a Snap EBT dollar match program.
