The Democratic National Committee has decided to hold a virtual roll call to get President Biden on the Ohio General Election ballot. The committee says it will hold the roll call before their August 19th convention to meet Ohio's August 7th deadline to get Biden on the ballot. Last Thursday, Governor Mike DeWine ordered the General Assembly to reconvene today to pass legislation to extend the deadline until after the Democratic convention. State lawmakers have done this in the past for both Republican and Democratic nominees.

Congressman Jim Jordan is urging President Biden to make a disaster declaration for the 11 counties affected by the March 14th tornado outbreak. Jordan sent a letter requesting a major disaster declaration for the areas hit by the tornadoes. The declaration will allow the residents to get federal aid for their recovery. Jordan says 250 families in Logan County had their homes hit by the tornado, and recovery aid will go beyond what resources the state and local governments could provide.

The President held a news conference Wednesday saying 31 tanks built at the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center will be headed to the front lines. He called it a united front with NATO allies like Germany who have also committed to sending enough tanks to the war-torn country to equip two tank battalions.

It's offering a new route to repay federal loans under far more generous terms. President Joe Biden announced the plan in August, but it was overshadowed by his sweeping plan to slash or eliminate student debt for 40 million Americans. Education department officials today called the new plan a "Student Loan Safety Net" that'll prevent borrowers from getting overloaded with debt. The President is moving forward with the repayment plan even as his one-time debt cancellation faces an uncertain fate before the Supreme Court.

Even though crews have been working on the site for a couple of months now, President Biden, Governor Mike DeWine, and other Ohio federal lawmakers were on hand for the ceremony in New Albany, Ohio. Funding for the facility was approved through the Chips and Science Act. Along with speaking about the success of passing that bill, Mr. Biden also remarked on the need to rebuild and increase America's manufacturing capacity.

J.D. Vance made a stop in Putnam County Tuesday evening, to be the keynote speaker for this year's Putnam County Lincoln Reagan Day Dinner. Polls show Vance is running neck and neck with, if not slightly ahead, of Tim Ryan in the race. The winner will replace Republican Rob Portman, who decided not to seek re-election this fall.
