A resolution has been reached in a two-year-old case from a bar fight. In Allen County Common Pleas Court, Justin Shears agreed to a plea deal and pleaded guilty to one count of felonious assault with a three-year firearm specification. He was sentenced to seven years in prison with three years mandatory. In Sept. of 2017, Shears pistol-whipped another man at Marko's bar. His attorney says Shears had been drinking and lost his cool when another gun was shown to him. Shears has been in jail since the incident and was given over two years of time already served.

The Lima man representing himself in court proceedings was back in court Thursday morning. 33-year-old Justin Shears, in Allen County Common Pleas Court, for some housekeeping matters. In a previous pretrial, Shears said he had changed his mind and wanted to hire a lawyer after briefly representing himself.
