Some housekeeping matters were taken care of today in the court proceedings for Justin Shears.
33-year-old Shears appeared for a pre-trial for the first time in Judge Jeffrey Reed's court after his case was transferred over. Shears went on the record that he is representing himself going forward while Gregory Donahue will be his shadow counsel. The state also filed a motion to continue the trial that was set for January 15. It is now pushed back to March 5. Shears already signed a waiver to a speedy trial.
Shears is facing charges related to a September 2017 incident where it is alleged he pistol-whipped a man and attempted to steal items from the victim. Another pre-trial is scheduled for January 14, 2019.
