A Kenton man and his dog died in an early-morning apartment fire at Scioto Village Apartments, with the Ohio State Fire Marshal investigating the cause.
KENTON, Ohio (WLIO) - A busy afternoon for firefighters in Hardin County after a Kenton business goes up in flames.
The workday came to a halt today(10/18/19) at Sekisui Plastics USA after a fire was reported. Company and fire officials did not say specifically what happened at the plant today, located south of Kenton on U.S. 68. But the fire department was called in this morning to the south side of the building. A large hole can be seen and the air smells of burnt plastic.
The damage was contained to the inside of this Walmart in Kenton, after a fire broke out on Monday. But officials are saying this was no accident.
On Tuesday afternoon, 26-year-old Caleb Poole of Fredricktown, Ohio was taken into custody, near Columbus, by the FBI and Hardin County Crime Task Force. Poole is being held by the FBI for an act of terrorism.
Crews responded to Walmart on E. Columbus Street around 6:45 Monday evening. Officials say the suspect started a fire after placing items in a cart, in the women’s clothing section and setting fire to them.
We do have an update on a one-car crash Thursday afternoon that took the life of a Kenton woman. Hardin County sheriff's deputies say 87-year-old Kikuko Hollan died from her injuries at the hospital after that crash in Kenton. She was heading east on espy street when she crossed over Wayne Street into a driveway, before crashing into a tree. She had to be extricated from the vehicle.
A man in Hardin County died in a drowning incident Sunday night.
