The City of Lima once again getting funding from the U.S. Conference of Mayors to create a new initiative for residents. This time the money is going to help the youth of Lima. The city was the 2nd place winner of the 2025 Childhood Obesity Prevention Environmental Health and Sustainability Awards. It will provide $50,000 that will go to creating the "Ride to Thrive Lima Youth Bike Program."

As the summer starts up, Lima City Schools are turning up the heat on learning and fun with their exciting summer camps. These camps, happening across the district, offer students a chance to engage in hands-on activities and field trips. The camps take place at students' home schools and are free for families. The district launched this program to keep students engaged and learning during the summer months.

The 5th grade class at Lima North Middle School is learning about that fateful day and built a memorial to remember those who lost their lives. Teachers say they tell the students about their memories to help them understand what happened during that time in history. The memorial of all the names stretched down the hallway for everyone to be able to stop and reflect.

Students at Lima North Middle School are learning the power of a single word. The students are participating in the Sandy Hook Promise Foundation's "Start with Hello Week." The goal is to educate students to the problem of social isolation and chronic loneliness. On Tuesday, the students took a picture to show their support behind helping others feel included and how by just saying "Hello", you can be the start of something good.
