The Lima Post for the Ohio State Highway Patrol opened their doors to the public on Tuesday.
The Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol recognized two Putnam County residents for wearing their seat belts, a decision that ultimately saved their lives. Brynne and Kristen Stechschulte received the "Saved by the Belt" award, which honors individuals whose choice to buckle up protected them during a crash.
Troopers from the Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said Jeffrey Tibbitts from Front Royal, Virginia was killed in the collision just after 7 a.m. on Bellefontaine Road just east of Waynesfield Road.
According to troopers from the Lima Post, the truck lost control near the State Route 115 off-ramp on U.S. 30 around 7:30 a.m. in the westbound lane. The vehicle drove off the right side of the road before rolling onto its side.

The selection of Trooper Kenton J. Gibson, 32, is in recognition of outstanding service during 2022 at the Lima Post. Fellow officers stationed at the Lima Post, chose Trooper Gibson based on leadership abilities, professional ethics, courteous treatment of others, enthusiastic work attitude, and cooperation with supervisors, peers, and the public.

This means that roads are expected to be more packed with drivers eager to start their holiday. The patrol states that everyone should drive safe and avoid distracted driving, as well as pay attention to the roadway at all times.
