Black History Month can be a time to share many perspectives, and at the peace and reconciliation center in Lima, a speaker was there to share his story.

The Allen County Museum will host its Hot Cocoa and History Day on Saturday, offering a blend of learning, local history and hands-on activities for visitors of all ages.

As the United States prepares to celebrate its 250th birthday in 2026, local educators are placing a renewed focus on hands-on history lessons.

“It’s going to be a adventure through Lima to explore the local Lima history. There are going to be placards mounted downtown and various areas throughout the city. You will be able to find information about the trail on visitgreaterlima.com and we will also have a table set up at Third Thursdays where you can get some hands on in person experience as well,” said Cricket Rodriguez, executive director of Downtown Lima.
