LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The Allen County Museum will host its Hot Cocoa and History Day on Saturday, offering a blend of learning, local history and hands-on activities for visitors of all ages.
The theme is electricity. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn how static electricity works, build a working electromagnet and explore how electrical circuits function through interactive demonstrations.
Hannah Bergstedt, curator of education at the Allen County Museum, said the event is designed to spark curiosity in both young learners and lifelong learners.
“We're going to be partnering with IBEW, and they're going to bring their circuit board, but also we're going to be doing electromagnet circuits, what conducts electricity, what doesn't? All those kind of things that those who are young scientists, or young scientists at heart, can come and play with.”
Hot Cocoa and History Day is free and open to the public. The event will run from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17.
The program is also part of the City of Lima’s Industry and Innovation Trail, with four trail stops located inside the museum.
