Members of the Lima Rotary Club are getting into the holiday spirit with their annual Christmas auction, a long-standing tradition that raises money for the Rotary Foundation through both silent and live bidding.
The Social House in Lima is marking its one-year anniversary by using the celebration to support two local nonprofits fighting food insecurity.
Thousands of dollars were donated to a local food pantry aiming to ensure area veterans do not go hungry. A little over $3,700 was donated to the Veterans Food Pantry of Northwest Ohio. The money was raised by Reineke Family Dealerships and the Lima UAW Local 1219 during their 7th annual Veterans’ Car Show earlier in October.
“The money that we raise from our fundraisers, we have three fundraisers. We take that money and we divide it up among different organizations, and all of them impact the lives of children,” said Bev Beery, community outreach chair for the Lima Kiwanis.
For nearly two decades, one area car show has been celebrating people’s love of cars while giving back to the community. The annual Charity Car Show will take over the parking lot at Apollo Career Center on Sunday, June 29.
