Residents, first responders, and Indian Lake school officials and students came together Friday morning inside Indian Lake High School to have a community breakfast.
A shots-fired situation in Logan County on Wednesday resulted in an hours-long standoff on the north side of Indian Lake. Gunfire occurred as authorities attempted to breach a home on the north side of Indian Lake around 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. Sheriff's deputies got a call regarding a home being struck by gunfire on Big Bear Path in Chippewa late this morning and determined a home was struck. The resulting investigation ended in a man refusing to surrender to authorities. And causing nearby residents to be evacuated.
The Logan County Sheriff's Office is asking the public to avoid County Road 142 at West Mansfield until further notice. That word comes after nearly 30 cars of a train derailed around 5 PM Saturday afternoon.
There were a total of 109 agencies to get grant money. 49 of them including the Auglaize County Sheriff's Office who got $67,530.00, the Bellefontaine Police Department received $79,650.00, and the Logan County Sheriff's Office attained $46,206.00. They will be using the grant money to start the body-worn camera program at their department.
The Logan County Sheriff's Office says the call came in just before 4 p.m. of a 79-year-old man who fell into the water off Miami Island, near Seminole Island. He was in the water for about 25 minutes. Rescuers transported him to the heliport on the south side of the lake and he was then life-flighted to Mercy Health-St. Rita's. No word on his condition at this time.
