In a recent phishing scam, cybercriminals are using real Facebook pages to impersonate Facebook itself. It starts with a fake email stating your account will be deactivated unless you click a link. That leads to a spoofed website that looks like a real Facebook login, which allows scammers to take hold of your account. Whether it be a comment, message, or e-mail, scams often come with urgent headlines designed to grab your attention, and the better business bureau warns any link can be suspicious.

Mayor Dean Meyer gave a state of the village address at the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce meeting. He talked about completing a strategic plan for Ottawa. The plan was put together by an outside company from recommendations from council members and residents. It will focus on public spaces, neighborhoods, streets, and trails for the next 5 to 10 years. He says it is good to have a plan moving forward.

Heather Bracy adds, “I can’t take the away the internet from them, but I can make sure they’re another positive influence on the internet and they contribute to the world, not detract from it. They’re great kids and kids their age there needs to be more of a positive influence n the internet. So, if I can make two more positive people then that’s definitely, definitely a win in my book parenting wise.”

BroadbandOhio is a private-public partnership, where each sector puts up money to expand access to underserved residents. But the program is just one part of getting Ohioans connected. Hardin County is one of the areas in the state that will see greater and faster broadband access because of this private-public partnership. Around 90 percent of the populated area that doesn’t have high-speed internet, and with around a $15 million investment that is going to change.

Librarians at the OSU Lima Campus have joined the efforts of “SUCHO”, “Saving Ukrainian Culture Heritage Online”. By going to the website, you can find spreadsheets that have the names of artwork, music, books, and other cultural items that are online and ‘SUCHO” is working to get those safely archived while the country is under attack.
