Vantage Career Center hosted an open house on Tuesday for those considering a career as a registered nurse. At Tuesday's open house, attendees had the opportunity to tour the nursing facility, meet instructors, and ask questions about the program.
Lifeline of Ohio’s Champions for Hope Gala, held in October, recognized individuals and organizations for their dedication to their role in saving lives through organ, eye and tissue donation. The award winners were determined by looking at five key tenets that motivate the mission of organ donation: advocacy, collaboration, innovation, diversity, equity and inclusion, and compassion. Individuals were nominated by peers and colleagues.
Thursday, crews found a time capsule in the cornerstone of the building. No one knew it was there and plans went into motion to open it in special way. Three nursing students from the last graduating class in 1971 were able to attend and help open the box. It was somewhat small and made of metal and inside there was an array of objects. Newspapers dating back to 1959, a picture of the beginning of construction of the building, multiple medals and medallions, and a rosary. The ladies said it was exciting to be part of the opening.
Representatives from the West Central Ohio Nursing Leadership toured the Borra Center and got to see how Lima Memorial and Rhodes State are using technology to further a student's education in nursing, such as the use of robots and different test areas to provide a real-life scenario for the students.
The UNOH Event Center the location of a drive-thru COVID-19 testing site on Monday. The medical group provided PCR tests at no cost to anyone that drove through. The group says it’s just important to offer services like this to residents during the pandemic.
Nurse's Heart Medical Staffing and the University of Northwestern Ohio will be holding a free covid testing event on Monday February 7th.
They will be offering PCR testing from 8 a.m., to 4 p.m. at the UNOH event center. The testing is open to the public and people will get their test results back within 24 to 48 hours. You are asked to provide an ID to get tested.
