Dean Tim Rehner joined the diversity committee in order to welcome new students to the committee as well as help those who want to get involved more on campus. Through a wide variety of events planned throughout the year, the committee hopes to make the campus a place where all students can get involved and feel welcome.
The Ohio State University of Lima showcased their own students' research in order to promote undergraduate research studies.
More than thirty students from various school districts in the state of Ohio were on hand to learn more about the engineering program at the college, as well as learn about the campus itself. Program leaders were on hand to answer students’ questions as well as inform them of the type of coursework that they could expect if they choose to continue their education at OSU Lima.
Today, students from 10 schools put their heads together to compete in the Western Buckeye League Scholastic Bowl Tournament. This is the 15th year the Ohio State University of Lima hosted the competition. Over 120 students answered timed questions on various subjects against other schools in the area. The event coordinator and Assistant Dean, Bryan Albright, says teams were very excited to return and show off their skills after last year's tournament was cancelled.
The Ohio State University of Lima raising money to help students that would be the first in their family to go to college. For the past 14 years, the university used a spring event to raise money for scholarships, but this year they changed things up by putting the focus on first-generation college students. The Generation One Learning Community has grown from 25 students a couple of years ago to 96 today.
Five soon to be Buckeyes received full and half tuition scholarships, made possible by a generous family.
