Shawnee Middle School students getting a different kind of learning opportunity today(10/18/19). This is the 3rd year that the middle school has held their STEM Exploration Day. Employees from Procter and Gamble, Lima Memorial, Vanamatic, and OSU Extension Office brought hands-on activities to challenge the student's problem solving and critical thinking skills. Also checking out what the students were up to was the state superintendent of public education, Paolo DeMaria, who says it's important to get young students interested in the science fields.
Van Wert High School offers its students a way to prepare for the future with the CEO Program, which stands for "Career Education Opportunity". This program links up students with local businesses to train them in different fields, for example, nursing or business marketing, to give them a good look into what they may be interested in making a career one day.
The State Superintendent made a stop to Delphos to take a look at Franklin Elementary School.
Superintendent Paolo DeMaria stopped into classrooms to see some of the different teaching styles that are being used at Franklin. The school was recently nominated for the Blue Ribbon School award through the Ohio Department of Education, an honor that principal Robert Hohlbein says has been a group effort.
Lima City Schools welcomed a special guest on Tuesday.
Paolo DeMaria made another stop in the area to see a nationally recognized school in Bluffton.
