With just two weeks remaining until the May 6 primary election, poll workers across the state are preparing for the day.
It's less than two months until the November election, and boards of elections are preparing across the nation. The Allen County Board of Elections is taking care of business in their regular meetings. They are preparing ballot language and how it will be laid out, along with assigning all of their poll workers. Notifications have been sent out, and they are waiting for responses to see if they will have enough. If they don't, they will be looking for more, and here is what's involved.
Due to added precautions from the pandemic, the Allen County Board of Elections is asking for much needed poll workers. Each polling location requires four workers, two from each party. Anybody is encouraged to apply, as long as they’re 17 years old.
Board officials say this primary is unusual. As a presidential year, it's in March, not May and this year polls are open the third Tuesday, not the second. That will be March 15th. Another challenge for a March Primary is having enough poll workers.
