OTTAWA, Ohio (WLIO) – With just two weeks remaining until the May 6 primary election, poll workers across the state are preparing for the day.
Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose attended a training session for poll workers in Putnam County on Wednesday. The state has approximately 35,000 poll workers who help operate polling locations statewide.

With only one statewide issue and a limited number of local races and ballot measures, election officials are anticipating low voter turnout. However, LaRose emphasized the importance of civic engagement and urged Ohioans to vote.
“You may want to go to our website, www.voteohio.gov to find out what's on your ballot. Do your research ahead of time. That's also where you can get information about early voting days and hours that continues all the way through the Sunday before election day. Of course, there's still time, but not much, to request your absentee ballot. If you're going to do that, you really want to go again, get that request form off our website, www.voteohio.gov and mail that in right away,” said Frank LaRose, (R) Ohio Secretary of State.
Ohioans still have until May 4th to vote early in person at their county board of elections. On May 6, polling locations will open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m.
