The 169th Van Wert County Fair kicked off on Tuesday. Gates opened at 9 a.m. Tuesday with people heading to the fairgrounds for their favorite food, games and activities.
May 9, 2024, Press Release from the Ohio Department of Transportation District 1: LIMA, Ohio (May 9, 2024) - The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 1 hosted its annual truck and loader roadeo at the Allen County highway maintenance facility in Lima, where 54 employees from across the eight-county district competed for top honors. The roadeo, which began in 1988, is a competitive driving event held annually in each of ODOT's 12 districts. Contestants are scored on a pre-trip equipment inspection, a test of rules and laws pertaining to commercial driver's licenses (CDL), and their operator skills as they navigate a series of obstacles with precision and speed.
This years' Miss Rodeo USA was in downtown Wapakoneta today visiting area stores.
ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - Horses, cattle, and cowboys wowed crowds at the Allen County Fairgrounds Saturday night.
Candace Muir is giving the contest a second chance and finds herself among the top 8 finalists. Muir has performed in several bands including Ohio State Lima's a capella group. She is honored to have the support of local friends and family and hopes to hit the big stage in December. The top two finalists will go on to the National Finals Rodeo in December. Voting is open through October 5th.
For around 40 years, ODOT District One has brought in their workers from their eight-county region for a friendly rodeo competition. The drivers of the loaders and the snowplows were challenged to maneuver their equipment through an obstacle course, forwards and backwards.
What has become a friendly competition between co-workers also works as a learning tool as well.
