VAN WERT, Ohio (WLIO) — The 169th Van Wert County Fair kicked off on Tuesday.
Gates opened at 9 a.m. Tuesday with people heading to the fairgrounds for their favorite food, games and activities. The fair held its annual opening ceremonies at 6 p.m. Tuesday, followed by harness racing shortly after. The Van Wert County Fair runs through Labor Day, and officials say this year’s schedule is packed.
"We have a lot of events scheduled this year. Tonight [Tuesday night] is harness racing; tomorrow night [Wednesday night] is cheerleading, and Thursday night is motocross in front of the Grandstands, and we'll go to monster trucks one night. We have the demolition derby and rodeo- just a lot of things going on in front of the grandstands," says Roger Wilkin, Head of the Speed Department, Van Wert County Fair.
