ST. MARYS (WLIO) - St. Marys opened the season by avenging last year's loss to Galion, beating the Tigers 36-12 Friday night.

The Roughriders set the tone on the opening kickoff, with junior Hunter Coldiron returning it to the Galion 29-yard line. St. Marys later cashed in when Logan Payton handed the ball to senior Dyllan Fink, who powered into the end zone for the game's first touchdown.

The Roughrider defense also made an impact, including a sack from Eli Holsinger. St. Marys pulled away in the second half, outscoring Galion 22-6 over the final two quarters.

The 36-12 victory gives St. Marys a 1-0 start after the Roughriders dropped their 2025 opener to Galion and Bath before winning seven of their next eight games.
