LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Residents at Springview Manor got a taste of the ballpark without leaving home Friday afternoon.

Friday was National “Live a Dream Day” for parent company Trilogy Health Services, so the facility brought in Cincinnati Reds mascot Mr. Redlegs and several Reds staff members for an afternoon of entertainment.

Residents were also treated to ballpark favorites, including hot dogs and other treats. The event was especially meaningful for one resident, Rod, a lifelong Reds fan. He received a special souvenir, along with a signed Elly De La Cruz jersey. It’s all part of Trilogy’s “Live a Dream” program, which helps seniors fulfill lifelong dreams.

“I think once they move into a senior living community, we have to continue the fun and continue to bring them out into the community and be involved in the things that they always have been. So, for some of them it’s sports, for some of them it’s different music activities, and things like that,” said Lydia Apple, executive director of Springview Manor.

Trilogy Health Services says thousands of residents have been able to fulfill a dream through the program over the years.
