LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Tim Trowbridge came to Lima in 1992 after working in the pool business in Canton. He took the opportunity to start his own business and has been here ever since.
When you walk into Pools N More, you'll find swimming pools, hot tubs, billiards tables and tanning beds. While the products may seem different, Trowbridge says they all have one thing in common.
"We've had a lot of products that are all basically tied around family fun, family activities. That's been our theme."
Trowbridge has worked alongside his wife, Shari, for nearly 34 years.
When you ask Tim about their working relationship …
"Uh … next question. No, we like each other. We get along great. She's … excuse me. Cut! … She's a tremendous support, she's my backbone, she corrects me when I need correcting. It's just been great. I know a lot of people say that working with your spouse, they would never do it. I can't think of anything better."
He says they bring that same family-focused approach to the way they treat their customers.
"I've got customers that have been with us the entire time we've been here … We want to treat everybody fairly. Treat everybody right. Treat everybody like family. Provide good service. It's basically just relationships. It's trying to do the best we can in this community. We live here, so it's important for us to not only, you know, have a business in this community, but also to live in this community and interact with everybody here, too."
And Trowbridge says the Lima community has given that support right back.
"They've blessed us for 35 years. I mean, we raised two kids here, put them through college, and they're off on their own now. I mean, it's just been a blessing to be here."
We'll hear more from Pools N More, including a look at this year's Christmas display, as we continue our America 250: Hometown Proud series.
