Columbus Grove (WLIO) - Columbus Grove opened the season with a statement, rolling past Pandora-Gilboa 42-12 and avenging last year's season-opening upset.

Junior Brody McCluer put the Bulldogs on the board with a three-yard touchdown run before Pandora-Gilboa answered with a defensive score. Maddox Blank forced a fumble in the end zone, which Caleb Doty recovered for a touchdown to make it 7-6.

Columbus Grove took control in the second quarter behind its ground game. Brady Basinger scored twice on power runs as the Bulldogs built a 21-6 advantage.

The Bulldogs scored the final 21 points of the game to pull away for the 42-12 win. Columbus Grove, coming off a Division VII state semifinal appearance, starts the season 1-0.
