Science Enhancement for Science Advancement, or SESA, came out to Unity Elementary School in Lima to teach about animals, their habitats, and their adaptations. Rachel Smith from SESA told the students all about animals such as gorillas, bees, and spiders, and topics like camouflage and pollination. Students contributed to discussions, participated in demonstrations, and learned what it would be like to see through the eyes of different animals. The program aims to get children interested in STEM subjects from an early age.

Students at Lima’s South Science and Technology Magnet School studying the “Scientific Method” as part of the “Science Enhancement for Science Advancement” program. They were trying to make the perfect glass of Kool-Aid by using the method to determine how much sugar to use to sweeten their drink. Educators say the students enjoy the outside source of teaching.

Science Enhancement for Science Advancement stopped by Liberty Arts Magnet this morning(10/29/19) to teach the first-grade students about weather. SESA led the children through different activities, focusing on how fog develops, tornadoes, tornado safety, and how clouds are formed. Each activity let the students get involved by volunteering to be a part of the experiments and this is what makes SESA such a successful science program.

The science behind the states of matter was demonstrated to eager young minds at Liberty Arts Magnet School. Science Enhancement for Science Advancement or SESA brought the program in for third graders at the school, showing off how one state of matter becomes another. The presenters did experiments with dry ice and water and brought up student volunteers to get a closer look at the process.

Students at Heritage Elementary School got their opportunity at hands-on learning thanks to a long-standing program. Science Enhancement for Science Advancement brought the program to fourth graders Wednesday to learn about Isaac Newton's Laws of Motion. SESA is a program that is sponsored by several local companies that bring free hands-on learning to Allen County students.
