LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Next Saturday, you'll have the chance to meet other gardeners and go home with something new for your own garden.
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Activate Allen County invited Lima residents to a fun afternoon at the South Jackson Community Garden.
A community project to take a vacant piece of land and turn into a garden space takes another step forward. There was some planting being done at the South Jackson Community Garden on Saturday. The project is a collaboration of dozen local organizations and the Ohio State University to create community gathering spot out of previously unused space. Trees and perennial flowers were planted and raised garden boxes were constructed. This area was designated a food desert and organizers see the garden as a hub to promote healthy eating and nutrition in the neighborhood.
OSU Lima is seeking input for a project designed to promote community wellness and fellowship. Friday evening, the South Jackson Community Garden held one of its Final Friday gatherings. It gives the Lima community a chance to come out and learn what the garden project hopes to achieve. The South Jackson Community Garden won't just be for growing food.
Local agencies are kicking off summer with an exciting project for a Lima neighborhood. The twelve stockholders involved with the “South Jackson Community Garden” held a block party to give people a chance to get to know one another and to explain what this project goal is. The community garden will not only be a place to grow food but also learn about health and wellness too.
