Rhodes State College giving potential students at sneak peek in what they have to offer.  During their fall preview day, around 65 high school students and their parents got to learn more about the community college. Beside touring the main campus, the students interested in the health science programs also got to check out the Borra Center in downtown Lima.  College officials say that seeing the campus in person gives students a better understanding into the more than 70 degree programs that they could take advantage of.

GROB has moved from making components for combustible engines to electric vehicles to looking at making components for batteries for those vehicles. Along the way, the skill sets of their workforce continue to be more advanced and so does the training needed for the apprentices that will be working at GROB.  Community colleges like Rhodes are ready to train students, whatever the need that manufacturers have.

Tuesday was a special day for Rhodes State College faculty, staff, and students as the "Rhodes in Motion" mobile lab has finally arrived! The mobile lab is situated within a coach bus where the interior has been converted to a state-of-the-art laboratory.

Rhodes State College helped get students ready to start their education career. The college has around 300 new students starting this fall, so they held a welcome day to help them meet other classmates and their instructors, learn about some of the support services on campus and get their books and supplies they will need before classes start.  Doctor Cynthia Spiers had some advice for the incoming students, which was to find their passion to help them in their education and in life.

 Rhodes state college getting recognized by the federal government for their program teach and train the future workforce.  The Lima college was named an Apprenticeship Ambassador by the U.S. Department of Labor.   It is for their efforts to promote, expand, and diversifying registered apprenticeships.  Rhodes state is one of over 200 institutions across the county to be named an Apprenticeship Ambassador and they will work with the others to find ways to expand regional programs.

The Ohio State Controlling Board issued the money to assist in the overall security at the campus, that from Speaker of the House Bob Cupp. The money stems from Senate Bill 310 which was the state's 2020 capital budget. Campus security says the money will be used to install electronic locking systems in 3 of their buildings.

Interested individuals and their parents had a chance to see the facilities and talk with faculty and financial aid advisors. It was a good turnout at the Borra Center for Health Sciences as those in attendance got an up-close and personal look at the high-tech state-of-the-art educational equipment. The open house drew not only high school seniors but others in the medical field looking to further their education.
