January 10, 2025, Press Release from the American Red Cross: INDIANA, Jan. 10, 2025 — The American Red Cross urges donors to make an appointment to give lifesaving blood or platelets in the new year to help keep the blood supply strong this winter. Type O negative blood donors and those giving platelets are especially urged to give now to keep critical blood products on the shelves for patients in need.

Sgt. Justin Powell with the Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says, “Enjoy the Super Bowl, have a good time. We have an Ohio team there being represented that a wonderful thing. Have a good time. Nothings wrong with drinking. Nothing’s wrong with driving. Just don’t do the two together. So, designate a driver, stay somewhere, call a cab. Call an uber. Something like that. We just want you to get home safe.”

This year, orders will be placed as many watch the Cincinnati Bengals take on the Los Angeles Rams. However, one Wapakoneta pizza shop will be closing early on Super Bowl Sunday. La Grande Pizza, a family-owned business in Wapakoneta will lock its doors before kickoff in order to honor the memory of one of their own -- Shannon Peachey, a huge Cincinnati Bengals fan, who passed away in 2020 due to cancer.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol will have troopers out in higher numbers over the weekend to watch for impaired driving. Using data from Super Bowls in the past, they’ll be placed in specific areas known for reckless driving under the influence. Lieutenant Tim Grigsby with the Lima Post says just by planning ahead, it’s easy to prevent mistakes and accidents.

Special footballs are made here as well, such as ones that are specially made for the Super Bowl.
