Putnam County Judge Keith Schierloh swore in eight elected officials for the county. Among those eight, Tim Wehri and Brad Brubaker have been sworn in as new Putnam County commissioners. Wehri has filled the commissioner seat held by incumbent Vincent Schroeder, while Brubaker has filled the commissioner seat held by incumbent Michael Lammers. Wehri and Brubaker will join current Putnam County Commissioner John Schlumbohm, whose term expires at the end of 2026.
A 32-year veteran of the Lima Police Department is now set to take the helm. Major James Baker was sworn in by Lima Mayor Sharetta Smith Wednesday morning as Lima's newest police chief. He is replacing retiring Chief Angel Cortes. Baker's vision for the Lima Police Department is to build upon the foundations built by Cortes and his predecessors, focusing on three crucial areas. The use of advanced technology, the building of trust and partnerships with the community, and the recruiting and hiring of new officers.
It’s official, Allen County has a new commissioner. Beth Seibert was sworn in this morning by 3rd District Court of Appeals Judge John Williamowski. She will be filling the unexpired term of Commissioner Jay Begg who had to step aside due to medical reasons. Shortly after being sworn in Seibert was at the table for her first meeting as commissioner. She says she's ready to hit the ground running.
Former State Representative Robert Sprague was sworn in to his new role as State Treasurer Friday evening (1/11/18).
Sprague was sworn in by Ohio Supreme Court Justice Sharon Kennedy at the Hancock Hotel in his hometown of Findlay. Sprague previously represented Hancock, Hardin, and parts of Logan County as the 83rd District Representative in the Ohio House.
As treasurer, he says he hopes to expand programs that support those with developmental disabilities as well as programs that tackle the opioid epidemic. He also said his office will work on developing financial literacy tools to help the next generation of Ohioans manage their college debt.
Shawnee Township swears in three new officers and will be assigning others to be school resources officers for the Shawnee School District.
As of Tuesday night, three new council members are officially serving the City of Lima. 3rd ward's Carla Thompson, 5th ward's Jamie Dixon and 7th ward's Jon Neeper were sworn in as new councilors.
