A new data center is set to be built on the northeast side of Van Wert, according to Brent Stevens, Executive Director of the Van Wert Area Economic Development Corporation. The approximately 220-acre facility will be located on the northern end of the city's “Mega Site,” north of U.S. Route 30 between Stripe Road and Mendon Road.

With three major crashes in the last month at the intersection of Thayer Road and U.S. Route 30, the Ohio State Highway Patrol does have some concerns. The three crashes left three people dead and a couple with serious injuries. Lieutenant Tim Grigsby says he believes the crashes occur for multiple reasons but mostly for no good way to get around Lima, GPS is the reason for the high traffic. Grigsby said people have difficulty merging onto the divided highway from a county road.
