Mercy Health St. Rita’s is once again encouraging the community to get moving while learning more about their health through its monthly “Walk With a Doc” program.
Each month there is a new topic that doctors will discussion with the public. For December they focused on the importance of exercising during the winter.
Local doctors are helping people with reach their health goals with education and exercise. Walk with a Doc is a national organization that doctors at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s has developed a local chapter of to help promote physical activity in West Central Ohio. The program also gives people the chance to socialize with medical professionals as they talk about different topic each month. Saturday, the participants learned when it is appropriate to go to an urgent care, emergency room or make an appointment to see their family physician. The goal is not only to raise awareness to health issues, but to raise the overall health of area residents.
The Lima Family YMCA brought in another doc for this month's Walk With a Doc event.
Members of the community had the chance to meet and take a walk with a local physician Saturday morning at the Lima YMCA.
It's a chance to talk to a doctor for free and get a little exercise at the same time.
