WAPAKONETA, OH (WLIO) - Wapakoneta's annual Summer Moon Festival brought the stories of Ohio astronauts to the silver screen.
November is National Adoption Month, and to help raise awareness, SAFY and the Wapa Theatre are coming together to have a showing of the holiday classic "Home Alone" that the whole family can enjoy. This event is open to the whole community and welcomes any family, big or small.
The Wapa Theatre is part of the "Open Doors" project by the Ohio History Connection through theclio.org program of Marshall University. The site has a virtual tour and a brief history of the building. Michael Brown built the theater in 1904 as a live performance theater and office building. The theater switched over to a movie theater in 1939 with a marquee that has become an icon for the community.
The Wapa Theater in Wapakoneta has been reopened for one week now, with many regulations in place to keep moviegoers safe. For a full list of showtimes and guidelines for the Wapa Theater, visit wapatheatre.com.
To celebrate the local hero that took one small step for man, the community of Wapakoneta is taking a giant leap for the 50th anniversary of his historic walk.
