One of the area’s biggest car shows is taking a year off. The annual Charity Car Show held at Apollo has announced that they will not be holding it due to coronavirus restrictions on mass gatherings. This would have been the 13th year for the event that has donated 70-thousand dollars to local charities over the years. Organizers say it was a difficult decision that had to be made.
Sheriff Treglia chose Andy and Wes Johnston, owners of Westgate Entertainment Center, for the annual award. Andy, Wes, and their staff have supported the Sheriff’s Office for decades. They sponsor many of our charitable events, and have supported our D.A.R.E. program financially and with entertainment, nearly as long as the program has existed.
It was created to give back to the community and for the ninth year several area programs and agencies received donations to help them to continue with their missions.
If you are headed to the Noon Optimist Home Show this weekend, stop by the Westgate Charity Car Show booth. Representatives will be giving youngsters and adults of all ages a chance to get their picture taken in a rat rod car.
