LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Bath used a fast start and relentless defense to defeat Kenton 52-27 in girls postseason basketball action.
The Wildkittens, who won the regular-season meeting last month, wasted no time setting the tone. Bath opened the game on a 9-0 run, highlighted by Allyson Harnishfeger scoring inside in the first quarter.
Kenton looked to answer as Allyson Rhinehart grabbed an offensive rebound and converted the putback, trimming the deficit to seven.
But Bath continued to apply pressure. Sophie Jackson forced a turnover that led to a transition basket from Mara Davis, who finished with 11 points in the win.
Addie Rex added to the advantage with a three-pointer as part of her 14-point performance, and Gwyn Foust turned defense into offense with a steal and fast-break finish.
Bath maintained control throughout, earning the 52-27 victory.
The Wildkittens advance to the district round in Miller City where they will meet the winner of St. Marys and Bryan on Tuesday, February 24.
