COLUMBUS GROVE, Ohio (WLIO) — Columbus Grove turned a tight game at halftime into a commanding victory Friday night, pulling away from Jefferson in the second half for a 60-37 win.

The Bulldogs led just 29-19 at the break, but the third quarter told a much different story.

Right out of halftime, Gavin Barraza sparked the momentum by poking away the inbounds pass, collecting it and finishing at the rim. That play ignited a 15-0 run to open the second half.

In the half-court set, Gage Sautter drove into the lane and dished to Brady Basinger, who powered his way inside for two. Basinger was dominant in the paint all night, finishing with a game-high 21 points.

Jefferson tried to stop the surge as Trace Harter connected with Luke Rode before cutting along the baseline for the return pass and score. Harter finished with six points, but the Wildcats couldn’t slow Grove’s momentum.

The Bulldogs continued to turn defense into offense. Landon Best came up with a steal and pushed it ahead to Trevon Baxter, who drove strong to the hoop for two of his 17 points.

After halftime, it was all Columbus Grove. The Bulldogs outscored Jefferson by a wide margin in the second half to secure a 60-37 victory.
