FINDLAY, Ohio (WLIO) — The Findlay Oilers kicked off their 122nd football season in dramatic fashion, pulling off a huge upset over No. 17 Indianapolis with a 38-35 win at Donnell Stadium.
The Greyhounds, who entered the matchup with a 2-0 all-time series lead, jumped out to an early 10-0 advantage. But Findlay senior Bryan Hunt ignited the comeback with a 34-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.
Later in the half, running back Dominic Bennett broke free for a big gain, setting up Jayden Farmer’s touchdown that pulled the Oilers within three.
Momentum swung fully in Findlay’s favor right before halftime. The Oilers forced a fumble on the ensuing kickoff, and quarterback Chase Harrison connected with Hunt on a contested touchdown grab with eight seconds left, giving Findlay a 21-17 halftime lead.
The back-and-forth battle continued into the second half, but Findlay’s offense held strong and their defense made timely stops. In the end, the Oilers completed the upset, taking down No. 17 Indianapolis, 38-35.
The win marks a statement start to Findlay’s 122nd season and their first victory in program history over the Greyhounds.
