DELPHOS, Ohio (WLIO) — The Fort Recovery Indians dominated from start to finish in a Saturday MAC showdown, shutting out Delphos St. John’s 41-0 at Stadium Park.
The Indians struck first in the opening quarter when senior quarterback Alex Gaerke faked the handoff and sprinted 52 yards to the end zone, giving Fort Recovery an early 7-0 lead.
Delphos St. John’s tried to respond with a big connection between Drake Fittro and Braden Lindeman, but the drive was cut short.
Junior linebacker Brody Barga came up with a game-changing interception, rumbling deep into Blue Jays territory. The turnover set up another Indians score, as quarterback Breaker Jutte fired a touchdown pass to Colson Post.
From there, Fort Recovery never looked back, steadily building their lead. The Indians’ defense was the story of the night, holding the Blue Jays scoreless while forcing multiple turnovers.
With the win, Fort Recovery improves to 3-2 on the season, while Delphos St. John’s drops to 0-5 and continues to search for its first victory.
