FINDLAY, Ohio (WLIO) — The Liberty-Benton Eagles opened their 2025 season in dominant fashion, shutting out the Ottawa-Glandorf Titans 35-0 on Friday night.
The Eagles, who topped O-G 34-6 a year ago, controlled both sides of the ball behind standout performances from quarterback Connor Barbara and receiver Seth Elchert. Barbara connected with Elchert on a highlight-reel one-handed catch that turned into a long touchdown, extending Liberty-Benton’s lead to 35-0 in the third quarter.
Ottawa-Glandorf looked for answers on offense, as Carson Yaeger connected with senior Nolan Horstman for a key first down, and Trevor Rump added a 20-yard run to spark momentum. But the Titans’ drives came up empty against a stingy Eagles defense, led by Gage Bellman, who stopped multiple runs at the line of scrimmage.
The Elchert brothers were central to Liberty-Benton’s attack, as Zach Elchert also contributed tough yardage on the ground before Barbara’s strike to Seth put the game out of reach.
Liberty-Benton improves to 1-0 with the victory, while Ottawa-Glandorf drops to 0-1.
