LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Temple Christian held off Perry down the stretch to secure a 54-47 victory Friday night, continuing its recent success against the Commodores.

The Pioneers, who entered the game at 3-7, leaned on balanced scoring and timely baskets to earn the win.

Since 2006, Temple Christian has now won 21 of the past 26 meetings against Perry, which is still searching for its first victory of the season.

Perry got on the board early when Amir Warner came up with a steal and finished on the other end with a layup.

Temple Christian answered as Nevin Long grabbed an offensive rebound and kicked the ball out to Drew Marshall, who knocked down a 3-pointer.

The Commodores briefly regained the lead in transition when Zyan Dukes-Tisdale took the ball coast to coast and converted at the rim.

Temple Christian responded again, with Marshall driving the baseline and dishing to Gabe Long, who finished the play.

Warner later connected from the top of the key to keep Perry within striking distance, trimming the deficit to four.

The Pioneers, however, continued to move the ball effectively, finding Gabe Long once more for a basket that helped seal the outcome.

Temple Christian’s composure in the closing minutes proved decisive as the Pioneers pulled away late to earn the 54-47 win.
