WAYNESFIELD, Ohio (WLIO) — Waynesfield-Goshen pulled away in the fourth quarter to earn a 58-44 victory over Temple on Friday night at the Covered Wagon, avenging a matchup that required overtime to decide a season ago.

The closing period featured key defensive and transition plays that swung momentum to the Tigers.

Temple briefly threatened after forcing a turnover, but senior Keygan Morse hustled back for a chase-down block to halt the Pioneers’ opportunity.

Waynesfield-Goshen capitalized on the defensive stop, as Jayden Michael finished inside to spark the offense. The Pioneers answered when Derek Shultz dished to Nevan Long, whose shot rolled in to keep Temple within range.

The Tigers responded with a strong transition basket from Drew Marshall, who powered through traffic to score.

That sequence led to effective ball movement down the stretch, highlighted by Shultz driving left for a layup as Waynesfield-Goshen extended its lead and sealed the win.
