Pandora, Ohio (WLIO) -- The Leipsic Vikings remained undefeated Friday night after holding off a late-game surge from county rival Pandora-Gilboa, securing a 12-7 road win in a tense fourth-quarter showdown. The Vikings (4-0) trailed 7-6 entering the final period but flipped the script with a big play from Marc Kirkendall, who connected with Avery Paris for a long gain down to the Rockets’ 1-yard line. Aaron Hazelton punched it in moments later to give Leipsic the lead. A failed two-point conversion left the score at 12-7. Pandora-Gilboa (2-2) had one last drive to reclaim the lead. Quarterback Cory Gerten found Chase Meyer for a clutch first down, then hit Breydon Ferguson on a deep pass that brought the Rockets to the 1-yard line with under a minute remaining. A five-yard penalty pushed Pandora-Gilboa back, but with six yards between them and victory, the Vikings’ defense stood tall. Leipsic stuffed the Rockets' final attempts to seal the win and maintain their perfect record. The victory gives Leipsic five wins in the last nine meetings against Pandora-Gilboa in what has been a tightly contested rivalry.
