92.1 The Frog donates toys to Allen County Childrens Services

Some area families will have the Christmas Frog to thank for their holiday this year.

92.1 The Frog collected Christmas donations for their annual Care A Van event. The group set up at the Harding Highway Walmart collecting gifts to be given to the Allen County Childrens Services. Their goal was to pack the van full and they stayed at Walmart for around 13 hours to meet it. The station asked people to buy not only toys, but also everyday essentials like hygiene and cleaning products as well as clothes. The Frog on-air personality Victoria Gonzalez says it is important to the people at the station that they get this chance to make a difference in their community's Christmas.

"A couple years we adopted a family individually as a station, and it was probably one of the most difficult things I ever did was delivering those items and seeing, you know, how hard some families right here in Allen County have it," says Gonzalez. "We were able to make a much bigger impact by pulling the whole community together."

The donations will benefit families who are regularly involved with the Allen County Childrens Services, and will make a difference in their holiday.

"This is going to be a huge, I mean, this is gonna probably be, I've heard in the past it's around 20 families that it'll serve," says ACCS Communications Coordinator Greg Sowinski. "It's just a large amount, it's going to provide Christmas to children that may not have a Christmas otherwise."

This is the second year the station has requested donations for Christmas.
