Organizers are currently in need of donations, especially children’s clothing. Items can be dropped off at the Children Services office at 123 West Spring Street on the following dates and times:

  • Friday, July 25, from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

  • Monday, July 28, and Tuesday, July 29, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Large furniture and appliances **will not** be accepted.

A Putnam County church recently returned from western North Carolina to make sure children affected by Hurricane Helene can have a merry Christmas. Saint Mary Catholic Church in Leipsic recently delivered around $100,000 worth of toys as Christmas gifts to the Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry Christmas Angel Program in Arden, North Carolina. The Leipsic church made it their mission to bring Christmas joy to North Carolina as their holiday service project after hearing the Christmas Angel Program would assist over 2,500 children this year.

You have around 3 weeks left to help a child have a better Christmas this year with a new toy. The Lima Salvation Army's "Toys for Tots" campaign will be collecting toys until December 14th. There are around 200 boxes out at various businesses in the area for donations of a new unwrapped toy. While they are looking for toys and stocking stuffers for any age of kids, there is one age group that could need some more donations.

The Lima Salvation Army is gearing up for a busy holiday season, and they need your help to assist families this Christmas.  With their partners, the Lima Noon Optimist Club and the Marine Corps Reserve, they kicked off their 2023 Toys for Tots campaign.

The Auglaize County Fairgrounds and Auglaize County Board of Developmental Disabilities partnered to create the new "Sensory Shed." The air-conditioned room provides a quiet, relaxing space where any kid can unwind with activities like a sequin drawing wall, play-doh, and touch or sound-based sensory toys. There are also flyers inside with tips on working with special needs children and information on local resources.
