LIMA, OH (WLIO) - You have around 3 weeks left to help a child have a better Christmas this year with a new toy.

Lima Salvation Army accepting donations with "Toys for Tots" through December 14th

While they are looking for toys and stocking stuffers for any age of kids, there is one age group that could need some more donations.

The Lima Salvation Army's "Toys for Tots" campaign will be collecting toys until December 14th. There are around 200 boxes out at various businesses in the area for donations of a new unwrapped toy. While they are looking for toys and stocking stuffers for any age of kids, there is one age group that could need some more donations.

"The one age group that we always struggle with, probably the most, is that 7 to 12-year-olds. So, the older kids, the upper range, the toys get a little bit more expensive in those ranges, and it's hard to find something different. You know, something unique and interesting for that group. So, those are the things that we need the most. So, if you are out shopping, those are the things that we are looking for. Of course you can purchase anything; we have some empty spaces here. So it takes a lot. We are doing usually around 1000 kids or more. That we have to supply for. The kids that we supply and help get at least 3 toys a piece," says Paul Downing Jr., Operations Coordinator, The Salvation Army Lima Corps.

If you want to help, you can join us on December 7th in the parking lot of the Allentown Road Walmart from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm for our annual Truckload of Toys event. When you drop off a new toy, we will give you a Kewpee coupon as a thank you, so join us in helping area kids have a great Christmas this year.
