“One of the most important things in toy safety is we certainly want our toys to be fun and not a hazard for our patients,” said Adam Keating, MD, pediatrician for Cleveland Clinic Children’s. “One of the first things that everybody thinks about is a choking hazard. There’s some toys that will include an age on the packaging."
You have around 3 weeks left to help a child have a better Christmas this year with a new toy. The Lima Salvation Army's "Toys for Tots" campaign will be collecting toys until December 14th. There are around 200 boxes out at various businesses in the area for donations of a new unwrapped toy. While they are looking for toys and stocking stuffers for any age of kids, there is one age group that could need some more donations.

There were more that presents being handed out at a Breakfast with Santa event Saturday morning. The organization, Daddys at Work brought families over to their new home at Forest Park United Methodist Church. Thanks to a group of sponsors, the kids were able to have some pancakes and sausage, talk with Santa, and pick out a toy to take home. This is Daddys at Work first event at Forest Park, which shares the same mission of putting kids first. But thanks to the collaboration with businesses, the kids were not the only ones to walk away with something new.
Thousands of Easter eggs were hunted by the student throughout the day. The candy and toy-filled eggs were donated by parents and staff. You could see the excitement in the kids' faces as they opened their haul of eggs in preparation for this Easter weekend.
For some people, it might be a bit early to think about Christmas shopping. But for Toys for Tots in Hancock County, they’ve got a serious mission to complete that just might be a bigger job than in past years.
