LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – Allen County Children Services extended its support beyond its clients Thursday, opening its doors to help families across the Lima area.
The agency held its annual Un-Garage Sale, an event that allows families in need to pick up clothing, household items, and toys at no cost. The event begins with Children Services clients getting the first opportunity to browse donated items. Once they finish, the remaining goods are made available to the general public.
“A lot of them have needs, just like our clients do,” said Greg Sowinski, communications coordinator for Allen County Children Services. “So just because they're not a client of the agency does not mean that they don't face some of the similar issues that our clients face, especially with financial means being limited.”
The Lima Police Department was also on hand, serving up hot dogs and providing meals to anyone who wanted one, helping to create a welcoming and supportive environment for all attendees.
